Meet Sean

The son of Mark and Lee Fellows, Sean was born in Red Bank, New Jersey and spent many of his formative years in Minnesota.

Sean attended St. Thomas Academy, a Catholic college preparatory military high school in Minnesota.  He held the rank of Cadet Major and was fifth in command of the largest cadet corps in the United States.  He was also on the Varsity Football and Track and Field teams.

The duty to serve his fellow citizens was instilled in Sean at a very young age.  With both of his grandfathers having served in the military, Sean grew up with a recognition and belief that Americans need to be involved in their nation and communities.  This firm belief in public service led him to apply for--and be awarded--a full ROTC scholarship to college.

Sean attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota where he graduated with honors earning a B.A. in political science along with dual minors in history and aerospace studies.

His dedication to community involvement remained present during college where he served on the University's Board of Trustees as a student liaison and was elected Senior Class President.  Sean received multiple service awards and honors for his work with student groups and local charities.

It was also during this time that Sean began to look more closely at the potential impact of government.  Sean took time from school to study abroad in Cuba, viewing firsthand the dramatic effect an oppressive government can have on its citizens.

He also studied in England and Ireland observing the different roles that governments play in other regions.  Sean's experiences seeing communities in shambles at the hand of government reinforced his belief that citizens need to be involved in their development. This later led him to pursue a Master's Degree from UNLV in the History of U.S. Foreign Policy, with an emphasis on U.S. and Latin American relations.

Sean's dream of becoming a member of the United States Armed Forces was realized when he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force.  As an Intelligence Officer, Lt. Fellows was assigned to various installations throughout the United States, with his final Active Duty assignment at Nellis Air Force Base.

Serving at Nellis Sean led the Airmen under his command in a number of unique and critical operations.  While much of the work of Lt. Fellows remains classified, some of his proudest moments came while commanding Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle missions in operations over Iraq and Afghanistan.  His team provided aerial intelligence to US soldiers on the ground and coordinated strikes on Al Qaeda and Taliban forces.

Sean Fellows is a decorated veteran of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  Following his completion of active duty commitment, Sean has continued to be a leader in the military by volunteering to remain involved at Nellis where he is currently a Captain in the Air Force Reserves.  Now, as Captain Fellows, he serves in a critical role as Reserve Flight Commander in the multinational air tactical exercises known as RED FLAG.

In 2006, Sean began serving the State of Nevada when Governor Kenny Guinn appointed Sean to serve on the Southern Nevada Veteran's Cemetery Committee.  This committee, based in Boulder City, oversees the operation of the only Veteran's cemetery in Southern Nevada and the second busiest Veteran's cemetery in the United States.  Because of his steadfast dedication to this committee, Sean was recently unanimously voted its Chairman.

Sean's efforts to help the Veteran's of Nevada were noted by Governor Jim Gibbons leading to his appointment to serve as a Commissioner for the Nevada Office of Veterans Services.  In this capacity, Sean is actively involved with matters affecting our veterans from health care to Federal VA benefit issues.

Sean is married to Katie Fellows, an attorney at the law firm of Jones Vargas.  Sean and Katie are active parishioners at St. Francis Assisi and in their free time enjoy playing golf, traveling, and spending time with their dogs, Lord Stanley and Ryder.
